About This Project
The inspiration for this home was a French Country style cottage, albeit one with Texas-sized spaces and contemporary amenities. The cottage styling is evident from the steep roofs, stone veneer treatment, operable wood shutters, bay window, and cozy alcove entry. Once inside the main living space consists of an open living and dining area that open onto a rear sunporch. The side entry accesses the stairway to the upper floor bedrooms as well as serving as a private entry for a mother-in-law suite. The upper floor is tucked under the roofline. Gable dormers on the front exposure and a continuous L-shaped shed dormer at the rear provide volume and light for the upper bedrooms. The right wing houses a traditional study, informal office, and the master suite toward the rear.
