Higher Education Project
Arkitex Studio’s design work on Blinn College Brenham’s historic Old Main Building began in emergency response to water damage from a broken pipe suffered during the 2021 Winter Storm. As work progressed to restore historic materials, Blinn also engaged Arkitex Studio to address renovation needs beyond the scope of the repairs.
Renovation scope included complete replacement of lighting and mechanical equipment, technology improvements, interior finish upgrades, accessibility compliance, and furniture replacement.
The Old Main Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places; therefore, all design work was submitted to the Texas Historic Commission for review and approval. Arkitex Studio helped overcome the inherent challenges of a historic renovation and the recent supply chain issues through continual communication with the Owner and Construction Manager at Risk, producing a historic building with modern amenities and materials while maintaining the historical integrity of the building.
