Historic Preservation & Adaptive Reuse Architectural Solutions
Not only does Arkitex Studio call historic downtown Bryan home, but we have led projects for a dozen other entities also calling downtown Bryan their home. Our portfolio of historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects boasts a diverse list of project types including, restaurant, theatre, faith-based, office space and more. Many of the staff at Arkitex Studio specialize in preservation projects and enjoy the challenges, but also rewards, accompanying these special projects.
We understand the complexities of these projects which often include alternative funding sources, grant money, strict perimeters, design requirements, historic preservation committee review, and other challenges. We follow a well-documented technical process and proven plan for achieving success despite any challenges that may occur. Arkitex Studio understands the expectations and procedures of working with municipalities design review and permitting processes. We commit to remaining involved from inception to completion and beyond, contributing to the successes of the project, client, and community.

David Woodcock, FAIA, St. Thomas Episcopal Church
“To upgrade a much-loved building requires understanding its character and materials, and a creative approach that must often be self-effacing. The 1938 Chapel at Saint Thomas Episcopal Church was such project. Our renovated chapel retains all the feeling of its past and a condition that should serve for another 75 years, with the dedicated work of the Arkitex Studio recognizable only by those who were there at the time!”
